And The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award Goes To… Rihanna

Rihanna is the recent recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.

Previous winners of the award include the likes of Kanye West and Beyonce , and RiRi will receive her plaque on August 28, when the “moon men” are handed out.

Rihanna shared the news via Twitter, “Honored to take the #VMAs stage as your video #VANGUARD award recipient LIVE from NYC on August 28!,” she tweeted following the big announcement.

The Bitch Better Have My Money singer also received four VMA nominations for Best Female Video for “Work,”  featuring Drake, Best Male Video for Calvin Harris’ “This Is What You Came For” and also got Best Collaboration for both songs.

Leading the nominees list is Adele and Formation singer Beyonce.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Madison Square Garden, New York, where it’s holding for the first time ever in VMA history.

The VMAs will air live on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
