During Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Leicester on Saturday, striker Diego Costa confused Blues fans after signalling to the bench to be substituted.

The 28-year-old opened the scoring for Chelsea after just 7 minutes, taking his tally for the season to 7.

In the second period, the Spaniard gave the signal to the bench. Originally it was thought that Costa was trying to prevent an injury, or risk of a suspension as he is one booking away from a one-match ban.

However, it has been revealed by the Mirror that Costa was in fact having a go at manager Antonio Conte for his criticism from the touchline.

Costa was suggesting that if Conte didn’t like the way he was playing, why not just take him off.

“I decide, me”

Costa was later told in no uncertain terms not to repeat his actions by his manager.

Speaking after the win, Conte told a journalist: “No, no. I decide, me. Everything, substitutions.”

“Always, I take the responsibility. In positive or negative situations, I take the decision to make the substitutions,” he added.
