Like most on the Fourth of July, John Cena will celebrate America. But the pro wrestler and actor wants to push one idea: “Love Has No Labels.”
Cena teamed up with the group of the same name to challenge the true definition of patriotism and what Americans love.
“It’s the people. Almost half the country belongs to minority groups, people who are lesbian, African-American, and bi, and transgender, and Native American — and proud of it,” he says while walking down a street, showing shots of a diverse country. “After all, what’s more American than freedom to celebrate what makes us us.”
For this year, Cena preaches those to look at patriotism through a new lens this year.
“[Patriotism] should be about love, love beyond age, disability, sexuality, race, religion, and any other labels,” he says. “Because the second any of us judge people based on those labels, we’re not really being patriotic, are we? Because love has no labels.”
