The 16th annual BET Awards show aired live Sunday night from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The show, which honors artists, actors and athletes across 20 categories, also featured tributes to Prince by a slew of artists, including Jennifer Hudson and Stevie Wonder, and a surprise performance by Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar.
Drake, Rihanna and Beyonce were among the top-nominated artists in categories like Best Artist, Video of the Year, and the R&B/neo soul-focused Centric Award.
The awards show, hosted by Black-ish stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, also awarded the Humanitarian Award to Grey’s Anatomy starJesse Williams and a Lifetime Achievement Award to Samuel L. Jackson.
