A mysterious and alluring patient (Gretchen Mol) draws Dr. Chance into the crosshairs of her abusive spouse, who is a ruthless police detective. As Chance is drawn deeper into the the city’s underbelly, he must simultaneously navigate a contentious divorce and deal with the troubles that have found his teenage daughter.
