Jay Z has released a new song in the wake of the shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by police officers earlier this week. It’s called “spiritual.” The new song is accompanied by a short note from Jay Z, stating that it’s an unfinished track that he’s been holding onto for a few years. “Punch (TDE) told me I should drop it when Mike Brown died, sadly I told him, ‘this issue will always be relevant,’” the note reads. “I’m saddened and disappointed in THIS America – we should be further along.
