The Super Eagles top their 2018 World Cup qualifying group and have won their last two games against former African champions Zambia and north African powerhouse, Algeria, the rise in the rankings is perceived to be connected to this recent run of form.

Argentina remain the number 1 team in the world with bitter rivals Brazil climbing up one spot to second place. Germany drop one place from second to third with fprmer number one side Belgium dropping from fourth to fifth despite an 8-1 trashing of Estonia during the last set of qualifiers.
