Resolution simply means a firm decision to do or not to do something; or the action of solving a problem, dispute, or contentious matter. Resolutions are more do or die and can be intimidating. Goal on the other hand is simply defined as the object of a person’s ambition or effort; an aim or desired result; the destination of a journey.
Goals are far more attainable than resolutions; it is therefore advisable to set goals rather than resolutions. Achieving a goal is entirely different than meeting a resolution.
Resolutions come with different battles daily. To meet up or to uphold the set resolution comes with so much difficulty but goals are set to be measurable. If a goal is not met in the previous time frame it can be taken over and there will be a continuous work in achieving the set goals but resolutions are either achieved or not.
A lot of people come up with resolutions especially in a new year and a lot of time feel like they failed when they can’t meet up by the end of the year. Goals can be measured by the end of the year but you can give up on your resolution if not achieved by the end of the year.
Our Goals should be SMART where S – Specific, M – Measurable, A – Achievable, R – Realistic and T – Time bound.
While you aspire to achieve your set goals and diligently work to achieve them, it’s also important to show yourself some love for everything you’ve already made happen in your life. Encourage yourself and take out time to reward yourself for the milestone you have reached as you continue to journey in achieving your goals.
