Two unmarried couples have been brutally punished for violating sharia law in Indonesia. They were reported to have gone on a date.

The photos from the incident which took place at Al Furqon Mosque in the city of Banda Aceh, Indonesia, showed one woman crying as a hooded man beats her repeatedly with a long cane on a stage next to the mosque in Banda Aceh in front of a large, cheering crowd. The man was also seen standing as he received his own brutal lashes of the cane, as people stood and watched them.
