The crisis – Basically, what we ended up seeing was a mission that brought most of Team Scorpion out to sea. At first, this seemed like one of their everyday missions … but in actuality, we should probably say that it didn’t become “everyday” until some of the stuff hit the fan because this just seems to be par for the course these days. Things went awry this time because of an explosion aboard the ship, one that caused Walter and Paige to be stranded separate from the rest of the team. They got together a makeshift raft, and the proceeded to rail into each other.
Walter felt like Paige wasn’t carrying her weight when it came to helping him through tough social situations — he believes it to be her job with the team, and she wasn’t holding up her end of the bargain. Her counter-argument to him was that she was trying to give him an opportunity to soar on his own without as much oversight. It was a nice idea in theory, but he didn’t like a secret “experiment” going on behind his back. (We also do think there was more to it than this; Paige knows about Walter’s feelings, and may have felt that the distance may have been a good thing for the two of them so that said feelings could go away.)
It took a shark attack for things between the two to start to turn around, but eventually they did as they fought for their lives aboard a buoy. They agreed to listen and help each other out more, and at the end of the episode, she even decided to take a night off of speaking to Tim to lend him a helping hand.
Elsewhere – There was a nice little subplot that we got in here for Sylvester, one where it turned out that the best way for him to possibly show off the skills that he had to be a potential Alderman. Also, we got a series of tremendous pirate puns from Toby. Any episode with this many pirate puns is always deserving of a bump up in our book.
Grade – B+. this episode was a blast to watch from start to finish, and it probably brought to you just about everything you could have wanted. Walter and Paige had the breakthrough that they’ve long been looking for, and in the process of that, Sylvester took some steps forward in his never-ending campaign. Maybe it is not the best episode of the whole season in terms of content and memorability, but it’s absolutely in the top half.
