Olayinka said: “It is gratifying to note that the University of Ibadan has been ranked in the 401-500 band. This is our best performance since 2016 when the university started featuring on this highly respected and prestigious universities ranking body, and in spite of a fiercer competition engendered by an increase in the number of universities assessed worldwide by THE.”
Meanwhile, the management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Osun State, has dissociated itself from a circular purportedly written by the Registrar of the university on reopening of the institution.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the school, Mr. Abiodun Olanrewaju, urged the public to disregard the information, stating that OAU has not reopened for academic activities.
“The attention of the authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, has been drawn to a circular purportedly issued and signed by the university’s registrar, which has gone viral.
“The management wishes to officially inform our students at all levels, their parents and guardians that the said circular is fake and malicious both in content and context and should be disregarded in its entirety.
“We urge our students to remain calm and await authentic information from the management, as soon as the Federal Government gives the go-ahead to reopen the university.”
