The Cleveland Cavaliers submitted an offensive masterpiece in Game 4 of their NBA Finals series against the Golden State Warriors to prevent a sweep, winning 137-116. Cleveland set Finals records for points in a quarter (49), half (86) and three-pointers made (24) in the chaotic contest. The Cavs did jump out to an early lead and kept a double-digit cushion for most of the game. However, the atmosphere of the game stayed tense throughout, as both teams played very physically and the referees had a difficult time keeping the teams under control. Seven technical fouls were assessed, and that number probably could have been even higher. Kyrie Irving (40 points) led the way for the Cavaliers with amazing shot-making both inside and outside the three-point arc, and LeBron James (31 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists) was his typically brilliant self. For the Warriors, Kevin Durant (35 points) led the way, but his squad shot a lackluster 11-of-39 (28.2 percent) from downtown, which ended up being the team’s downfall.
