Soon Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp will end support for the various Operating Systems such as Nokia’s popular Symbian OS, BlackBerry, Android smartphones and iPhone 3GS from 1.1.2017. Though these mobile devices have been an important part of their story, as now they don’t offer the kind of capabilities.

WhatsApp is one of the most used instant messaging services around the world, competing primarily against its rival Telegram, hence it proceeds much success. BlackBerry has already taken the step to fabricate devices with Android and Windows Phone has already reached its version 10, leaving obsolete so your older version 7.1.

The solution is obvious: upgrade to the king of today’s operating systems: Android, iOS or Windows Phone. The cheapest solution is certainly Android because you can get a phone at the full version for less than Rs.5,000 (less than $100). No doubt, Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp will maintain them for many years yet. Obviously, this is not bad news for WhatsApp, which recently reached one billion users, earning 100 million in just the last 4 months.

But, this does not mean that WhatsApp will stop working overnight on your old mobile, basically, it will end support for WhatsApp Messenger on the mobile platforms such as BlackBerry (including BlackBerry 10), Nokia S40, Nokia Symbian S60, Android 2.1 and Android 2.2, Windows Phone 7.1 and iPhone, as WhatsApp haven’t made any fundamental changes to its communication protocol. While these mobile devices have been played an important part of their story, as now they don’t offer the kind of capabilities.
